USA Science and Engineering Festival: April 25-27, 2014
The USA Science and Engineering Festival is a public events that brought in over 250,000 to Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC. It is held every two years, and is a national grassroots effort to advance STEM education and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
The Little Shop of Physics was invited by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to be part of their booth in the exhibit hall. Over the weekend, over 20,000 people visited our booth and interacted with our homemade hands-on science experiments! We also held a well attended daily presentation on the NSF Stage called “Under Pressure”.
It was great working with the NSF, and they appreciated us too! In fact, they sent us a letter and said: The extensive array of hands-on experiments comprising the “Little Shop of Physics” was absolutely amazing and reflected your extraordinary commitment to sharing the excitement and importance of science in everyday life. With your colleagues, you created a highly interactive, tactile exhibit that was rich in materials to stimulate exploration and wonder. Furthermore, your high energy stage show brought rave reviews and communicated basic physics principles in an exciting way.”
